Search terms can be entered at the level of trait category, trait subcategory or trait description.
For example, to search for QTL associated with grain weight users can either enter the search term “Grain weight” in Trait Description, or select the trait category “Panicle” or Trait subcategory “Grain & Panicle Yield”, and search in the Trait Description options to select grain weight related traits.

Users can specify a target set of coordinates, e.g.
Physical location IS WITHIN 500000bp of 6,000,000 or
Physical location IS BETWEEN 5,500,000 AND 6,500,000

This can be done based on the physical coordinates of the most recent version of the sorghum genome assembly (v.3), or using the cM coordinates of the sorghum consensus map (Mace et al 2009).

Users can search on QTL identified in specific:
  • Populations (e.g. BTx623/IS3620C, B35/Tx7000, Sorghum Association Panel)
  • Publications
    • Author names (e.g. McCormick, Jordan)
    • Publication title or key words (Striga QTL)
    • Journal name
    • Year of publication
  • Published Symbol/Identifier (e.g. stg A, qGY-5, Tb1)
  • Flanking Marker in Original Publication (e.g. txp302, Dsenhsbm64, S1_10629136)
  • Whether the search should be limited to only QTL or GWAS studies

Users can search for QTL in sorghum based on the syntenic location in either maize or rice

Users can specify the location in either the maize genome assembly (B73 RefGen_v1; Schnable et al 2009) or the rice genome assembly, O. sativa subsp. japonica (Release 7; Goff et al 2002; Yu et al 2002), or provide a candidate gene ID from either species (e.g. GRMZM2G108663; LOC_Os01g01080.1).
